【摘要】:Thistestmethodisusefulinindicatingthedifferencesinweatherresistancebetweenvariousslates.Thistestmethodalsoprovidesoneelementinthecomparisonofslates.1.1Thistestmethodcoverstwoproceduresforweatherresistanceofslateinalloutdoorinstallationsbydeterminingthedepthofsofteningbyanabraserorbyhandscraping.Note18212;Thetestisbasedonthefactthatslatescontainingpyrite,calcite,andcarbonundergoachemicalweatheringwhichresultsintheconversionofthecalciteparticlestogypsum.Theswellingactionthatresultscausesdisintegrationoftheslate.Theextentofthisactiononvariousslatesinthetesthasbeenfoundtocorrelatewiththedurabilityofthematerialsinactualweathering.1.2Units8212;ThevaluesstatedineitherSIunitsorinch-poundunitsaretoberegardedseparatelyasstandard.Thevaluesstatedineachsystemmaynotbeexactequivalents;therefore,eachsystemshallbeusedindependentlyoftheother.Combiningvaluesfromthetwosystemsmayresultinnon-conformancewiththestandard.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
